Nice clean cover of Rick Ross. Eva Mendes naked for a PETA advertisement. Large section on the passing of Pimp C. Article on B.O.B. before he blew up, noticed he changed his whole style, this photo has him mean muggin’ with a bat, on another photo from the past he’s mean muggin’ with a blunt in his mouth.
E-40 graces the cover with the Sick Wid It Records family which includes Turf Talk, Laroo, Coolnutz, Nump, and the original Click. Worst clothing line ever Ghetto Profitt Wear with shirts like Wus Poppin Blood and My Baby Mama Ain’t Shit lol! Once again, love the Technical Question? Ask Amp Live Section. Scott Bejda also does a good job with the article on Pator Troy, the picture of him is also great. Marcus Hanschen also takes a nice photo of Brotha Lynch Hung “hanging”.
R.I.P. to Soulja Slim, not sure how things would have turned out if he would have been able to continue in the game. One of my favorite Murderdog covers. Very west coast magazine has a large section of down south advertisements and articles. Interesting picture of Paul Wall and Chamillionaire when they were youngin’s.
You really can’t hate on the cover with Bay Area Rap Legend Too Short. Cap 1 inside, never really blew up like I thought he would. Interesting letter to the editor from Jamal Diggs while in prison giving some insight to Mac Dre, Jamal Diggs would go on to be J-Diggs of Thizz Nation. Articles on M.O.P. and Richie Rich.
Boss Hogg Outlawz? Not sure about that one. Dang, 19 pages of advertisement before I got to the Table of Contents. Murder Dog be making money. Here’s a section that I like.. Techinical Question? Ask Amplive. Amplive is part of Zion I, who is one of my favorite Hip-Hop groups. Good Messy Marv article, bad Omar Cruz article.
This is the earliest issue of Murder Dog I have and have yet to be able to figure out what issue number it is. Drop me a line if you know. This issue didn’t even have a barcode, but I’m sure it is from 1996. Funny index page with JT the Bigga Figga in some khakis and polo shirt. This is a strickly bay area / northern california issue with artists such as Too Short, Black Market Records, Brotha Lynch Hung, and C-Bo. Very in depth and informative, with an interview with Billy Jam.
One of the early issues of Murder Dog Magazine, just by digging through the magazine I can tell it is from roughly May of ’97. Not sure what issue # it was, but i’m sure it’s one of the first few. I had to take a picture of it due to the large size of the magazine not fitting on my scanner. Heavy emphasis on the west coast but like 4080 magazine, it still has plenty of articles on East Coast/ Southern Rappers. Cool thing about this issue is the full page large color advertisements of some local artists that probably never made it in other magazines. Nice article on Brotha Lynch Hung and also Mobb Deep. If anyone knows about these early issues drop me a line, I have a few more of these that I can’t date.
