Rap Pages Magazine A Tribe Called Quest July 1998

rap pages a tribe called questSometimes the letters to the editors are the best stories. Here is one of them. Tak-ni-shun from the Boogie Down Brox writes:” Y’all suckers don’t love New York anymore, do you? Even more, y’all don’t love the underground. Y’all are all on the dick of the West Coast and the South. I’m seeing stories on N.W.A. (who ain’t been together in seven years). MJG, DJ Quik (who has a perm) and all these Goodie Mob niggaz dressed like the Beverly Hillbillies.”

So in 98 NAACP President Kweisi Mfume, Kathryn Williams and Delphine Abraham were upset with the definitions for the “N” word. Talk of boycott and such put heat on Merrian Webster. Merrian Webster said that a revised version of the dictionary could be ready for sale as early as next year. Just looked it up on their website and the definition is still the same.
